Although we try hard to keep our fees as low as possible we realise that they are still very significant and we offer substantial scholarships and bursaries to help make it possible for all who want to come to the College to be able to do so. Many of our students benefit from these arrangements.
Academic Scholarships
The Prince of Wales Academic Scholarships are financed from the Prince of Wales Foundation, and are awarded for two years on entrance, and internally at the start of Year 3 and at the start of Year 5. They depend on the academic performance of the student and up to twenty students may hold them at any one time. Students who win a scholarship receive book tokens to the value of 3000 crowns and participate in a scholars’ programme at the College.

The number of social bursaries is limited and applications submitted after the deadline will not usually be considered.
If parents find themselves facing unanticipated hardships during the course of the School year they can apply to the Headmaster for help in meeting the continuing costs of education.
Barta Scholarships
One of the early graduates of the English College, Jan Barta, now a successful internet entrepreneur, decided to fund 6 scholarships to the English College, to enable promising young people who would not necessarily fit in well with the Czech school system to flourish at the College, as he believes he himself did. These scholarships can be for up to 100% of school fees. The first scholar started at the College in September 2011. Applications should be made via the Registrar and should be requested by the beginning of the summer term when interviews will take place.
The Havel Scholarships
On the initiative of a group of graduating students in 2011, the College is planning to offer a scholarship aimed at students from disadvantaged groups to begin in September 2012. The late President Vaclav Havel supported this initiative. He both agreed that it could be named after him and donated signed books to be auctioned to help raise money.
This scholarship would give a student, who would not otherwise be able to enjoy such a great education, the opportunity to attend the English College in Prague for two years. Applications are encouraged from minority and other disadvantaged groups. Funds are initially available to fund a two year scholarship costing 200 000Kc.
