The College is a six-year independent school, offering an English-style education in English to 320 boys and girls aged 13-19. It is part of the Czech school system and is non-profit-making. 80% of its students are Czech and 20% are international students from over twenty different countries. The average class size is 19 in Years 1-3 and 13 in Years 4-6.
The College is a fee-paying school. Academic and music scholarships and bursaries give families from different social backgrounds the opportunity to send their children to the College. Students are selected on the basis of an interview and entrance examination.
The teaching staff are experienced graduates, who are native English speakers from the United Kingdom and elsewhere and Czech speakers from the Czech Republic.
The courses at the College are demanding, and students need to have a good knowledge and understanding of English. A supportive English programme is available for any student who continues to need help after entry to the College.
The College offers education in two curricular programmes: one Czech, the other International. Both programmes offer the full curriculum for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB), but differ in the teaching of native languages.
The IB Diploma qualifies students for admission to universities in the Czech Republic, the UK and elsewhere, and for Czech students is recognized as equivalent to the Czech Maturita.
The school buildings include specialist Science laboratories, an Art centre and Music room, a computer centre, a well-equipped library and resource centre, a gymnasium and an all-weather outdoor sports area.
The College is governed by a Board of Governors drawn from the Czech Republic and the UK.
