ECP and Rememberance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday

On Remembrance Sunday, 12 November, students from the ECP attended the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. The event is regularly organised by the British Embassy at the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Olšany. On this day, we remember all the men and women who fought and died during WW1, WW2 and subsequent conflicts.

The students helped Beavers and Scouts from the 1st Prague Scouts Group to lay religious symbols on the graves of those who died in the service of their country and who are buried here in Prague.

The Ambassador then invited the students to the Embassy to the traditional Curry Lunch.

ECP MUN Security Council

On Wednesday evening members of the ECP MUN club took part in a Security Council simulation. Permanent members were represented together with other delegations. Nuclear non-proliferation on the Korean Peninsula was the issue under consideration. The delegates discussed and constructed resolutions. Then they debated and amended one resolution which required international engagement on the issue.

As an IB school committed to the Learner Profile we encourage our students to be thinkers, open-minded and good communicators. The delegates on the ECP Security Council were all this and more.

IB Results |

Congratulations to the 2017 IB class on achieving a point average of 33. Six students achieved 40 points or more, and the highest total was 44 points.

The 2017 cohort was one of the largest the College has had – 69 students. ECP enters all students for the full IB Diploma, with those on the Maturita programme also being awarded the Czech Maturita after passing the written and oral components in Czech language and literature. All 43 students were successful in their final  Maturita examinations. 51 of 65 students applying to university this summer have already had their acceptance confirmed, including places at the University of Oxford, St Andrews, York, University College London, TU Delft in the Netherlands and Charles University, with that number due to rise over the next few days.

ECP remains committed to supporting all our students through the full IB Diploma and the application process for the university that best suits their needs and aspirations. Today we both celebrate the 2017 results, and formally welcome the class of 2017 to the ECP Network – our alumni association that connects the ECP family wherever they are in the world.

The English College in Prague - Anglické gymnázium, o.p.s.

We are building a bridge within the theme of the school year, which is Czech and British connections. We would like to make a mural in the shape of a bridge with individual bricks being specific examples of Czech and British connections. Students and staff can pin paper bricks on a noticeboard and write a description of their connection contribution. When the project is final, we will paint the completed bridge shape on our school yard wall during the Festival of Arts in June.
