Laurence Baxter

Deputy Head (Pastoral and Upper School)

Laurence is originally from Oxford in the UK. He studied International History and International Politics at the University of Sheffield. During his time at university and after graduating, Laurence spent five years working for a Member of Parliament. In 2006, he moved into education and completed his Post-Graduate Certificate in Education in History at the University of Oxford in 2007.

Laurence then spent seven years teaching History at a state school in Oxfordshire and had a number of roles including Head of History and Head of Year. Meanwhile, in 2008, he was elected as a city councillor representing the area where he grew up in Oxford. Laurence was re-elected in 2012 and served on Oxford City Council for over 6 years. Laurence moved to the Czech Republic with his fiancée and cat in the summer of 2014. Since then, he and his wife got married in Prague in 2015 and their daughters were born in 2016 and 2018. He also completed a Master’s degree in Education and Leadership with the Open University. Outside of work, Laurence enjoys reading books and watching, reading about, and listening to podcasts about football, politics and history.
